In our new blog series “A wee chat with…” the SEC has a quick fire Q&A with an organiser to get an insight into their working life and their event, plus getting their views on Glasgow and the venue.

VisitScotland Expo is Scotland's premier business to business travel trade event. At the most recent edition, we sat down with Event Manager, David Martin, for a wee chat.

Why should people "Visit Scotland"?

Scotland casts a spell on every visitor – through its vast and emotive landscapes, its history, wealth of experiences on offer and the warmth of its people. In Scotland, you can lose yourself in the mysteries of our majestic castles, walk up our highest mountains and visit our deepest lochs as well as enjoy the festival buzz with your newest friends in the pub.

What's your favourite thing about Glasgow?

The live music scene and venues. From the intimacy of clubs, to the mid-sized venues of Barrowland, ABC and Academy to the SSE Hydro, there really is something for all levels.

What is the best piece of content you’ve seen at a show?

This was my 10th VisitScotland Expo and every year I’m amazed at the creativity by our exhibitors in designing and dressing their stands. Personal highlights definitely include a whisky still and an Aston Martin.

What’s been the biggest change in the show during your time at the SEC?

The show has continued to grow over the years and the biggest change was having to move from Hall 3 to Hall 4 to accommodate demand from exhibitors.

What’s your favourite Scottish product?

I’m still trying to experience and learn more about many of Scotland’s whiskies but nothing quite hits the spot like Scotland’s other National Drink… Irn Bru!

Describe Scotland in 3 words…

I’d have to go with “Friendly”, “Welcoming” and of course “Home”
