New Director of Operations Appointed for SECC Campus
The Scottish Exhibition + Conference Centre (SECC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Laidlaw as Director of Operations.
Most recently Mark was Director of Management Services at Scottish Rugby Union and brings with him a wide experience and extensive knowledge of stadium and event management. Previously, he was responsible for the development of Murrayfield Stadium as a world class sporting and events venue, reshaping the stadium’s events programme to attract some of the world’s largest music and sporting stars - this included One Direction, the largest stadium concert ever to take place in Scotland.
In the role of Director of Operations, Mark will be responsible for all operational and logistical aspects and event delivery across the 64 acre SECC campus which includes The SECC, The SSE Hydro and Clyde Auditorium. He will also be an integral member of the team involved in planning the future development and sustainable growth of the business.
Announcing the appointment, Peter Duthie, Chief Executive, SECC said:

“The addition of The SSE Hydro has significantly extended our campus and the role of Operations Director will continue to be a challenging one with future investment already in place for expansion of our facilities. We are delighted to welcome him on board as we focus on the long term future and success of the company.”

I am excited and privileged to be taking on this role and look forward to playing my part in contributing to the next phase of our business’s future”.
Malcolm Close who will be stepping down from the position will continue to be involved in the company and will assume the new role of Projects Director.
