Tutankhamun Exhibition at SEC passes 50,000 ticket milestone

Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition at the SEC Glasgow has now sold more than 56,000 tickets since opening its doors on 24 July – with 11 weeks still to run before the experience closes on 26 October.

The landmark figure cements the exhibition’s status as one of the most popular cultural events of the year in Scotland, and we are looking forward to reaching even more milestones in the weeks ahead.

Following a hugely successful run in London, the Scottish debut spans 2,500 square metres and blends cutting-edge technology with captivating storytelling. Visitors can expect:

  • An 8-metre-high, 360-degree immersive video mapping room
  • A seated Virtual Reality experience exploring the Egyptian afterlife
  • An Interactive Digital Metaverse room, including a walk-through of the Valley of the Kings
  • A Hologram Room demonstrating the full mummification of Tutankhamun
  • An interactive museal area and ‘treasure room’ with original artefacts and high-quality replicas, including items from Howard Carter’s private collection

Created in collaboration with leading Egyptologists and historians, the exhibition transports guests through six immersive galleries that explore the life, death and legacy of the Boy King.

Noting the milestone, Angela Smith, Head of New Business at the SEC, said “Selling over 55,000 tickets so early in the run here at the SEC is a fantastic achievement and shows the huge appetite in Scotland for high-quality, immersive cultural experiences. We are on track to welcome over 1000,000 visitors to this clearly impressive and popular experience.

“Whilst there are still 11 weeks to go, we’d encourage those who haven’t yet visited to book soon so as not to miss out. Whether that’s exploring the Valley of the Kings in VR, standing inside the breathtaking 360-degree projection room, or seeing incredible artefacts up close. We’re excited to see how many more milestones we can reach before the final day in October.”

James Cassidy, President of FKP Scorpio Entertainment, added: “Scotland has embraced Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition with incredible enthusiasm. Our aim has always been to create an experience that is both educational and awe-inspiring, and the response so far tells us we’re delivering on that promise. We’re thrilled to be working with the SEC to bring this world-class exhibition to Glasgow and can’t wait to welcome even more visitors in the weeks ahead.”

Don’t miss the chance to step into ancient Egypt and experience this award-winning, internationally acclaimed production before it leaves Glasgow.
