From the 25th-27th July 2018, the World Down Syndrome Congress was held at the SEC. The three-day event welcomed over 1,000 delegates from all over the world to the city to be inspired, become more informed and influence others.

The event provided delegates with unparalleled access to world-renowned speakers, cutting edge research and presentations and opportunities to socialise and meet with people from other countries.

It was the first time in 32 years that the World Down Syndrome Congress has been held in the UK. In preparation for the event, Glasgow Welcomes held a number of training sessions aimed at raising awareness of Down's Syndrome and educating people across the city about how to interact with those living with the condition. Session attendees included taxi drivers, hotel staff and the SEC team.
