ASSISTANT EVENT MANAGER – CONFERENCES & EXHIBITONS - SCOTTISH EVENT CAMPUS

Comprising of the SEC Centre, SEC Armadillo and the OVO Hydro, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) is Scotland's premier venue for events, gigs, conferences, and exhibitions. We enjoy an enviable reputation as one of Europe’s most prestigious venues with the OVO Hydro consistently ranked in the top 3 busiest venues in the world, attracting over 2 million visitors per year.

 

As an Assistant Event Manager – Conferences & Exhibitions, you will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the current Event Management Team.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • To support the Event Managers in all aspects of pre-sales, event planning and delivery, budgetary control and venue management.
  • To assist in the coordination of each event, with the appropriate level of involvement to ensure build/breakdown requirements are achieved, public safety is efficiently maintained, and security and traffic management plans are effective and operated.
  • To support in the development and completion of event documentation and processes such as the Event Plan, event briefing documents and the Event Delivery tracker.
  • To support proactive, efficient cost management, accurate budget processes, and improved margin where possible.
  • To assist and shadow the Event Manager in working with the health and safety and security departments to ensure each event has an appropriate safety structure and communication plan in place to efficiently manage public and occupational health and safety risks and be positioned to react in the event of an unplanned incident. 
  • To help the Event Manager identify and resolve health and safety risks associated with event delivery, whilst actioning and reporting them in the appropriate manner.

Key attributes

 

  • HND in Event Management, Tourism Management or Business Management
  • To be aware of the E-Guide along with event industry knowledge
  • Foundational understanding of the principles of Event / Venue Management, including key aspects of Event / Health and Safety
  • Planning and Organisational skills and thorough attention to detail
  • Strong Communicator
  • Teamwork and collaboration
  • Problem Solving
  • Have previous experience in a similar environment
  • Be flexible as evening and weekend working will be required
