Role: Health and Safety Apprentice
Reports to: Health, Safety & Risk Manager / Assistant Health and Safety Manager
(Dependent on their planned task exposure)

Summary Role:
To operate collaboratively within the Health and Safety team, committed to the Company’s strategic business objectives, including being an ambassador for our culture and values at all times.
To assist the Health and Safety Team to ensure the SEC is a safe, healthy, engaging, and enjoyable environment for all customers.

Customer service will be at the forefront of every customer relationship; customer is defined as colleagues, partners, clients, contractors and every customer and visitor.
Responsibilities: OFFICE FUNCTION (1 YEAR)
1. Support the administration of the health and safety office function, for example, report writing and collation, arranging/attending meetings, drafting agendas, and taking & circulating minutes.
2. Support the administration of our digital incident reporting system.
3. Support the administration of the Incident Investigation process including scheduling and reporting.
4. Support the administration of the Health and Safety mailbox ensuring SLA compliance and escalation protocol where required.
5. Support the Health and Safety training matrix to include all scheduling, including onboarding and induction.
6. Support the administration of the key documents register to include policies, Safe Operating Procedures, Ways of Working and health and safety legislation
7. Support the administration of our Contractor Management Portal.
8. Support the administration and coordination and management of our Personal Protective Equipment matrix.
9. To support the administration of the Health and Safety section of the SEC APP.
OPERATIONAL FUNCTION
Fire (3 Months)
10. To support the review of the Fire Prevention Strategy including, Fire Prevention Policy and Fire Action plan.
11. To support the internal and external Fire Risk Assessments
12. To support Fire drills and supplementary plans and policies.
13. To support the administration of the Fire Safety Management Dashboard which provides legacy data of all Fire Incidents.
14. To support the Health and Safety Fire related PPM’s ensuring recording on the Compliance Register.
Risk (3 Months)
15. To support the Risk Management System including the Risk Assessment Framework.
16. To support the ongoing development and review of Health and Safety Management Arrangements and Safe Operating Procedures.
17. To support the ongoing development and review of all departmental Risk Assessments.
18. To support the ongoing development and review of task specific risk assessment, to include but not limited to: DSE, Noise, Manual Handling, COSHH etc.
19. To support ongoing internal audit and inspection processes.
Health and Safety (6 Months)
20. To support the Health and Safety Management System including Occupational Health and all related Safe Operating Procedures.
21. To support the Health and Safety related PPM’s ensuring recording on the Compliance Register.
22. To support the Health and Safety Campus induction for new members of staff and contractors.
23. To support Partner engagement sessions
24. To support contractor Management
25. To support the administration of the compliance software
26. To support campus, walk rounds including all appropriate administration and reporting
27. To support the activation of a SAFEZONE response
28. To support internal and external audits including all appropriate administration and reporting
