Scotland’s biggest night of traditional music will celebrate Glasgow comedy and folk music legend Sir Billy Connolly in larger-than-life style. Hoolie in the Hydro: The Big Yin will take place in the city’s biggest venue on Saturday 13th December, as a 'windswept and interesting' cast of Scottish stars pay tribute to Billy, his humour, and his love and affinity for folk music. Among those joining the celebrations will be renowned fiddler Aly Bain, acclaimed singer-songwriter Ralph McTell, the iconic Elaine C Smith, and much-loved actor Gavin Mitchell AKA Boaby the Barman from Still Game, with more names still to be announced.
This year’s event will be co-hosted by legendary Scottish actor Martin Compston, joining the wonderful Julie Fowlis, who returns for her third year as host. Together, they will welcome a stellar line-up from across Scotland’s vibrant folk and traditional music scene, including Elephant Sessions with their progressive blend of trad, funk and electronica, explosive six-piece Trail West, renowned supergroup Mànran, the unique and compelling Beluga Lagoon, and a performance from the Oban High School Pipe Band.

Contactless Security Screening
-
At the SEC, we’re always looking for ways to make your experience even better. While we continue to keep safety and security our top priority, we're introducing new security screening technology to help make entry smoother and more seamless. Check the information below on how it works, so you can spend the minimum time waiting and the maximum time enjoying your visit.
Evolv Express is a contactless security screening solution that highlights threat items, while ignoring harmless personal items, as you walk through at a natural pace.
How does it work?
- Follow instructions from our team
- Keep all personal belongings with you during the screening process
- Simply Walk through the screening system; there's no need to stop unless directed to by security
- Have your ticket ready for scanning
If you have a medical condition that may limit certain security procedures, or use a wearable or implanted medical device, please inform staff as you approach and they will provide an alternative screening method.
