SUPPORT TECHNICIAN – CONFERENCES - SCOTTISH EVENT CAMPUS

Comprising the SEC Centre, SEC Armadillo and the OVO Hydro, the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) is Scotland's premier venue for events, gigs, conferences, and exhibitions. We enjoy an enviable reputation as one of Europe’s most prestigious venues with the OVO Hydro consistently ranked in the top 3 busiest venues in the world, attracting over 2 million visitors per year.

 

As Support Technician – Conferences, you will be responsible for working as part of the Technical & Production Team to help deliver the following:

 

  • To set up conference spaces to the highest possible standard in a safe and effective manner.
  • Support the load-in and load-out of equipment for events.
  • Operate plant and mechanical handling equipment, including MEWPs and Forklift Trucks, safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure all equipment is used safely and maintained to a high standard.
  • Carry out regular checks, maintenance when required as part of the planned maintenance programme and report faults on technical systems and infrastructure.
  • Follow safe working practices in accordance with campus health and safety policies.
  • To ensure that all functions are carried out in accordance with current legislation, standards and codes of practice and to proactively identify risks and ensure that Risk Assessments are undertaken for all Technical Operations.
  • To oversee the technical operations carried out by temporary members of the team, ensuring they are well-informed, safe and compliant with any company procedures.
  • Respond flexibly to the needs of different events.

  • Experience supporting events in live entertainment or similar environments.
  • Experience in a technical production, event delivery, or venue operations role is desirable.
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations; MEWP and working at height experience desirable.
  • Experience in forklift truck driving would be useful.
  • IPAF ticket would be desirable, but all required training would be provided.
  • Ability to adapt to a variety of event types.
  • A proactive, practical approach and strong problem-solving skills.

This is a physically active role that requires a strong awareness of health and safety, excellent teamwork and a flexible, positive approach to problem-solving. This position requires a willingness to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends and public holidays, and occasional night/overnight shifts may be required.
