Hotels | It's Not Just Us
There are six hotels within a five minute walk of the SEC and two more are scheduled to open in Spring 2020. We are literally surrounded by hotels that cater for a range of budgets and offer plenty of health and wellbeing options for your exhibitors and visitors to enjoy.
By spring 2020 there will be over 1,500 rooms available meaning you won’t have to walk far to get a great night’s sleep.
A Wee Chat With...Radisson Red
Lisa Ruxton, Account Manager at Radisson Hotels, talks about Glasgow, Hotels and the SEC in our wee chat blog series.
What’s the best thing about working in Glasgow?
The people, I am not Glaswegian but have been here for 9 years now and haven’t looked back - everyone is so friendly and welcoming. Glasgow is so dynamic, and I love hearing about why people are visiting the city.
How has SEC helped the set-up of the Radisson RED?
The SEC is fabulous and right from the start we have worked in partnership. A lot of the bookings were worked upon in advance of the hotel opening using blueprints and the SEC really supported getting the clients to know what the hotel will be like and the vision. The view of the campus is great as well!
What’s been the biggest challenge getting the hotel up and running?
New openings are always fun! Everything happens at once and even though you’re as organised as possible, there are always curve balls that are out with your control. Everything came together and we managed to spread the word of RED. The brand is new to the city and the UK so we had to really make sure everyone knew about the style and concept.
What’s the difference between Radisson RED and other Radissons?
Radisson RED is only the 6th RED in the world at the moment and the first in the UK. RED offers a relaxed service style and we are dog friendly. The hotel combines urban style, modern comforts, the love for the arts and a truly warm welcome. The hotel is about design, music and style! It has also been inspired by the surrounding industry and this can be seen through the unique wallpaper which was designed for us. Make sure you visit a RED soon – you will love it!
Describe Glasgow in three words:
Friendly, dynamic and real.
What’s your favourite time of day to be in the SkyBar?
I love sunset in sky bar, it is such a cool space to be in when it starts to get dark and there is live music on.
What cocktail do you recommend?
RED SKY @ NIGHT.
What’s been the highlight of working at the Radisson so far?
I love speaking to the people who use the hotel. When people have been at work or a conference all day and the come back to the hotel you can see them chill out and relax in the two bars, Oui Bar and Sky Bar. When I show people the facilities and rooms in the hotel their reaction is always great as the rooms are large with amazing views. We’ve hosted some amazing events in RED Sky bar that really showcase what the hotel can offer so they are always exciting.
