Now, we are searching for a Business Development Manager to join our team to expand our client base and raise awareness of the SEC, driving sustained financial growth through new sales into the conference sector, with a particular focus on international sales. The Business Development Manager will also contribute to developing the team strategy.

Having experience working in the national or international conference market is preferred in this role, ideally with a background in sales or business development. Increase revenue by identifying new business opportunities
You are required to proactively build and maintain relationships with national and international associations, and key intermediaries, to build a healthy pipeline of future sales opportunities, in line with the department’s targets. You will expand existing client relationships and create new relationships, driving new sales leads, using the skills of a highly professional business development manager. Face to face activities with clients will be key. You will work with the sales managers in driving forward successful bids, whilst building on strategic alliances with stakeholders and partners such as Scottish Enterprise, VisitScotland and Glasgow Convention Bureau to develop opportunities to convert business.
Raise awareness of SEC as a leading venue for international business events.
The job involves regular travel within the UK and overseas, attending tradeshows, industry events, and regular face to face client meetings. Whilst the role is sales focused, the Business Development Manager will also contribute to identifying marketing and PR opportunities to raise the SEC brand in the conference market using a broad range of channels.
Maintain and develop and accurate and targeted database of weighted opportunities.
You will be required to monitor and weight the sales pipeline to ensure a strong performance from the sector and provide key targets to the in-house research resource to establish new opportunities. In addition, you will be required to provide monthly management reports and review performance against targets.
The role is expected to keep abreast of competitor strategies and ensure the SEC’s business development strategy remains productive, protecting market share and revenue from the sector. Furthermore, you are required to frequently analyse the SEC’s competitiveness in relation to price, product, people and promotion.
